PHYSICAL COLLAGE
On the first week we were told to prepare some elements from magazines, etc. for our physical collage task in the next week. For week 2, we cut out our prepared elements and made 3 compositions out of them.

Progression
In week 1, I started by searching for my parents old magazines and then cut out several interesting pictures that looks nice. The first thing that I cut was the girl wearing Chinese clothing and some patterns.

Then, I collected all the elements that have been cut out and start arranging them to make 3 pre-compositions for the collage.

Composition 2 :

Composition 3 :

After getting feedback from Mr. Martin, I decided to choose the second composition to go for the final outcome because it's more balance than the other two compositions. So, I started arranging it again with the composition photo that I've taken and glued it up in a white paper.

Final Outcome
For the final result, I arrange the elements more neatly than the previous one from pre composition and I chose not to change anything from it. I personally quite satisfied with the result but not with the photo quality and color, as the lighting were poor when I took this photo.

From this collage design I wanted to share that every of us is powerful and worthy no matter what. We are capable on doing anything we want, even the difficult one. We just need to believe in our own selves and skills in order to be more confident.

DIGITAL COLLAGE

Progressions
After downloading all the elements needed, I started out by cutting out some images there with quick selection and lasso tool.

Compositions
Composition 1 :
The first one is a very abstract idea that comes to my mind when I play around with the elements. I wanted to create a theme with two 'fish head people' wanting to battle each other. Mr. Martin gave feedback on the composition and said that it needed to be improved.

Composition 2 :
Second theme is about several people looking at an 'aquarium' with weird looking fishes. At the beginning it is quite boring, so I added a man riding the fish (which I took from the train station photo) to make it more unique.

Composition 3 :
The last composition is actually a very random one when I play around with the elements. I applied the principle of repetition here with the same 3 boys walking up to the train.

Final Outcome
Based on Mr. Martin's suggestion, I chose to proceed with the second composition. I changed and added up some elements to the final collage as I'm not that satisfied with the previous one. I found it is more interesting when I substracted the background to a black color with a concept of a 'space aquarium'.

With Mr. Martin's instructions on adjustment and filter layer, I added a few color filter to it but not too strong. I wanted to make it with a cooler tone,

As I'm curious with mockup things for a long time, I try to find a free poster mockup on google and found one on freepik website. Then I try to mocked it up into a poster looking one, which turns out quite nice.

FEEDBACK
Week 3
Personal feedback : Surprisingly Mr. Martin liked all the three compositions and suggest me to choose the second one as it is more balanced compare to the other two. He also gave compliments about how the elements been put in a nice compositions<3.

Week 4
General feedback :
Personal feedback :
Mr. Martin said that my first composition has a nice idea but it needed to be fixed if I'm going for that. Hence, he liked the second and the third collages and said the second one is already ready to be submitted.

REFLECTION
Honestly, I have a lot of fun doing both of the exercises, especially the physical collage one because I personally love doing things manually, searching and cutting out elements, as well as learning how to arrange a good composition. Other than that, I also learned more about different tools in Photoshop and get to experiment with it. Although I'm still lacking much, the class demonstration and feedbacks that're given by Mr. Martin were all so fun, easy to follow and helpful. I definitely looking forward for other future tasks and projects in this module.
