Week 5 - Composition III (Rhythm and Movement + Chiaroscuro)
Rhythm and Movement
Rhythm is the most difficult aspect to achieve in term of making composition. Example of composition with good rhythm:

INSTRUCTIONS
On exercise 2, we were tasked to design a minimalist poster based on an existing narrative (movie, comic, etc.).
PRACTICAL
Visual Research
As a horror and thriller movies fan, I wanted to create a poster with that movie genre. Two film/series that I have in my mind are one of my most favorite Netflix series, "Alice in Borderland" and "Us", which is also my favorite thriller/horror film. I was confused on choosing either both of them, so I decided to do research on both films and make 'mood board' with simple summary for each of them.

FEEDBACK
Week 6:
REFLECTION
I never thought that creating something minimalist is this hard and not easy AT ALL. It is very hard to just really focused on creating minimalist simple poster and not focusing on the details. The amount of time taken just to brainstorm the ideas and choose the decisive moment are not short (and I also needed to rewatch the movie itself again but it was fun and still make me scared tho). From this, I really appreciate more designers out there especially who mostly create minimalist movie poster.
After going through some thinking process on which one to proceed, I finally decided to chose "Us".
I watched this movie back then in 2019, so I don't really remember the whole movie and only have some blurry scenes in my mind, so to make sure I am not wrong at picking the highlight scenes, I went to watch the movie all over again. Then, I went to collect some images of the key scenes and elements in the movie, which is shown as below :

Sketches
As what Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Anis said, a poster shouldn't contain any spoilers for the audiences, that's why I wanted to only show some key elements and main scenes in it (like a small hint to the movie) and this is what I came up with :

Digitize Progression
I decided to go with the third sketch as it shows enough clues and symbolization found in the movie.
So firstly I trace the scissor with pen tool and colored themz with a kind of pale gold gradient.
For the holding hands scene, I quite have a struggle here on simplifying their 'human' shapes to a more uncomplicated one. But after some minutes of figuring out how to simplify it, I

FEEDBACK
Week 6:
- General Feedback : It has to be decisive and minimalist. Also, don't forget if you were asked for a sketches, don't only make one.
Week 7:
- General Feedback : Beware of copyright! It's safer to create something by "remaking" it instead of copy paste it.

Also, for the animation, it was actually hard too, but with the guide and lecture demo given by both misses, I can do it pretty smoothly.
